overview

Come and see these ‘gentle giants’ when embarking on our Whale Watching Tour. This 280km route will take us along the coast with plenty of pit stops to give us an opportunity to spot the southern right whales fluking, spouting, and spyhopping as they migrate through Cape waters. Of the whale species seen in the waters around the Cape, southern right whales are the most common. However, you might also get a chance to see humpback and Bryde’s whales. There will also be sufficient time to explore Hermanus, rated as one of the top 12 whale-watching locations.

Please be sure to book at least 3 days prior to preferred travel date. A minimum of 3 bikes are required for guided tours.

WHEN JOINING OUR WHALE WATCHING TOUR, YOU CAN EXPECT…

We will start at the Makani showroom at 07H00 and head out on the N2 towards Gordon’s Bay. At Gordon’s Bay, we will take the scenic coastal road to Rooi-Els stopping along the way at the many viewpoints to see if we can spot some whales. With over 70 bends on a road that twists past the towering Kogelberg mountain range, climbing and descending towards the sea in False Bay, this road makes for an exciting ride. At Rooi-Els we stop for a well-deserved breakfast before completing the final leg to Hermanus. We will take a few detours along the way through Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond, giving riders ample opportunity to do some whale watching en-route. We will spend around 4 hours exploring Hermanus. This will include a delicious lunch, before we will head back to Cape Town via Bot River on the N2. We will first go through the Houw Hoek pass and then tackle Sir Lowry’s Pass, where we will reach a height of 920m. At the top of the pass, we will stop to take in the magnificent view overlooking False Bay. Please be aware that this itinerary may need to change due to weather, road conditions or other factors. The tour guide will make the final decision after consulting with the tour operator and the group members. Safety always comes first! For those who would like to partake in this tour, but would prefer to do it alone, motorbike hire is also an option. What could be better than driving along the beautiful Cape coast and spotting whales while enjoying the freedom of riding a Harley Davidson! Feel free to get in touch with us for more detail.
