Our itinerary for the tour is as follows:
We depart the Makani office around 09H00 and ride through Seapoint, Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay, on our way to our first refreshment stop at Groot Constantia wine farm – the oldest wine farm in the country. Time permitting, we will do a cellar tour.
We then ride along Chapmans Peak Drive, through Noordhoek, Misty Cliffs and to the Cape Point Nature Reserve to enjoy the unspoilt rugged terrain, unique floral kingdom and perhaps a sighting of some of the animals roaming the area. You are welcome to walk or catch the funicular to the upper lighthouse at the tip of Cape Point to enjoy the spectacular view.
We will have lunch at Cape Point before a quick stop at the most South Western tip of the continent known as the Cape of Good Hope.
Next, we will head to False Bay and the famous colony of African penguins at Boulders Beach. It is a truly wonderful experience to see these local creatures going about their business in their natural habitat.
Hereafter, we will meander through the picturesque naval town of Simon’s Town, continuing through the coastal suburbs of Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay before we take Boyes Drive and have a quick stop at the Shark Spotters lookout point, where we will find out more of how the Spotters operate. From here we head out past the infamous Pollsmoor Prison, where Nelson Mandela spent almost 5 years of his incarceration.
We then ride up through the forest towards Constantia Nek, where we will turn off towards the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and get a different perspective of Table Mountain. We then head back to the Makani office.
