Our itinerary for the tour is as follows:
We start at the Makani showroom and head out on the N2 towards Somerset West, and shortly afterwards tackle Sir Lowry’s Pass, where we will reach a height of 920m.
We then continue our trip and have breakfast at top of the Houw Hoek Pass, where your guide will fill you in on the history of the pass, before descending and passing the small town of Botrivier. We will then turn off the N2 and ride to Rooi-els, before tackling the stunning Clarence Drive. We then ride through Gordons Bay, and on to the 2nd oldest town in the country, Stellenbosch, where we will stop for a quick bite to eat.
After lunch, we ride the Helshoogte Pass on to Franschhoek, pass through Franschhoek, and ride the magnificent Franschhoek Pass in both directions, ending up back in Franschhoek. We will then check into our overnight accommodation and then explore the wine and culinary capital of South Africa.
After a hearty breakfast we say goodbye to Franschhoek and head towards Paarl. At Wemmershoek we will make a quick stop at the Drakenstein Prison, from where Nelson Mandela was released and took his final walk to freedom. We bypass Paarl, and tackle the Du Toitskloof Pass, and then after a quick refreshment stop at Du Kloof Lodge, head through the Slanghoek Valley and turn off on the R301 and ride the Bainskloof Pass to Wellington.
From Wellington we ride back to Cape Town, and tackle Ou Kaapse Weg, before heading back to the Makani premises via the amazing Chapman’s Peak Drive. At the Makani office we will have an end of tour celebration.
