Harleys and Sharks Tour Itinerary
After picking up your Harley from the Makani office, you will head out to Gordons Bay, where one of the most stunning rides in the Western Cape awaits – Clarence Drive! This road, otherwise known as the R44, skirts the western end of the Hottentots-Holland mountain range and passes through a number of coastal resort villages. If you like passes with lots of corners, then this one is for you, as it contains 77 bends, curves, and corners, four of which are in excess of 150 degrees! The road is in a beautiful condition and attracts tourists, locals, bikers and cyclists in their droves. The scenery is spectacular, with mountains to your left and the sea to your right. Whales can often be spotted from the many lookout points along the road from July to November.
The quaint village of Rooi-Els is an ideal stop to take some refreshments on board. A visit to the African Penguin colony at Betty’s Bay is also an option. On arrival in Hermanus, you will check into your accommodation and have some time to explore the town. A walk along the cliff top is a must during the Whale season when these gentle giants can be spotted close inshore. A representative from Sharklady Adventures will meet and greet with you and brief you on what to expect the following day.
Once the boat has returned to the harbour, you will return to the Sharklady Adventures office for a light meal and an opportunity to view a video of your unique experience and purchase it if you wish.
You will then make your way back to Cape Town. During whale season, it is recommended that you return along the coastal road, where you will have another chance to spot these magnificent creatures. An alternative route is to return on the N1, where you will ride the Houw Hoek pass, as well as the Sir Lowry’s pass.
